Privacy Policy

The short version: NimbleScribe collects zero personal data. Your voice recordings are processed entirely on your Mac and are never sent to any server. Your transcription history is stored locally on your device only. We have no access to any of it.

1. Who we are

NimbleScribe is a product of NimbleSL ("we", "us", or "our"). Our website is nimblesl.com. Questions about this policy can be directed via GitHub Issues.

2. What data we collect

We collect nothing.

NimbleScribe does not collect, store, transmit, or process any personal data on our servers. Specifically:

  • ✓No audio recordings are sent to us or any third party.
  • ✓No transcriptions are stored anywhere other than on your own device.
  • ✓No usage analytics, crash reports, or telemetry are collected.
  • ✓No account or sign-in is required — we have no user database.
  • ✓No cookies or tracking pixels are used by the NimbleScribe app.

3. What stays on your device

All of the following are stored exclusively on your Mac and are never transmitted:

  • Audio captured during recording sessions (held in memory only, not written to disk).
  • Transcription history and text output.
  • Your app preferences and shortcut configuration.
  • Downloaded Whisper model files.

You can delete your transcription history at any time from within the app. Uninstalling NimbleScribe removes the app and all associated data stored in its container.

4. Network requests the app makes

NimbleScribe makes only two types of outbound network requests, both of which are clearly described here:

Update check

On launch and every 24 hours, the app contacts nimblescribe.nimblesl.com/appcast.json to check if a newer version is available. This request contains no personal data — it is a plain HTTPS GET request to a public JSON endpoint. No IP address logging or tracking is performed on our end.

Model downloads

When you choose to download a Whisper model from Settings, the app fetches the model file from a CDN over HTTPS. This is a one-time download per model. No account or personal information is associated with the download.

Aside from these two cases, NimbleScribe makes no other network requests and can run entirely air-gapped once models are downloaded.

5. Third-party services

NimbleScribe does not embed any third-party SDKs, analytics libraries, advertising networks, or social media trackers. The app has no dependency on any external service during normal operation.

6. Children's privacy

NimbleScribe does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13. As no data is collected at all, this product has no special considerations with respect to children's privacy regulations.

7. Changes to this policy

If we ever update this policy — for example, if a future version of NimbleScribe introduces optional cloud features — we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify users via the in-app update notification system. The current policy always applies to the current version of the app.
